Hello, I'm Yui.
The Tokunoshima lunch I recommend is the "Amachan Set Meal" at "Gibier Cafe Tougura ."
The "Amachan Set Meal" is a homemade set meal packed with ideas from the island's mothers, and as you can see from the photo, it is packed with Tokunoshima ingredients and is very filling.
The view is also amazing, so I always take my guests from outside the island here. Everyone loves this restaurant, so if you come to Tokunoshima, be sure to check it out.
Now let's see what's inside.
What's in the Tokunoshima lunch "Amachan set meal"?
First of all, the "Amachan Set Meal" is the signature menu of "Gibier Cafe Tougura", and you can choose either wild boar cutlet or wild boar hamburger as the main meat. The other side dishes are made with seasonal vegetables and fruits from Tokunoshima, so the contents change depending on the season.

The Amachan set meal for this day included 11 items.
Pork cutlet
bean rice
Seasonal vegetable tempura (bitter melon and carrot)
Mozuku Tempura
Vinegared bitter melon
Vinegared mozuku seaweed
cold tofu
Pickled papaya
Pork miso
Island vegetable miso soup
Tangerine
◆ The main dish of the "Amachan Set Meal" is shishikatsu (fish cutlet)
This is the main dish, pork cutlet.
Some people may not like wild boar meat because of its unique smell, but don't worry. The mothers at Tougura carefully prepare the meat, so the unique smell of wild boar is completely removed.
And the homemade miso served with it is delicious.

The original miso, made by carefully simmering local vegetables over a long period of time with a garlic base, goes really well with shishkatsu. It's so delicious I wish they would sell the miso in a bottle.
◆ The rice served with the "Amachan Set Meal" is peanut rice
The rice is bean rice.
The rice mixed with large peanuts is fragrant and the flavor spreads throughout your mouth when you eat it.
If you don't like peanuts, you can change it to white rice.

◆Miso soup and desserts are both locally produced in Tokunoshima
The miso soup is full of island vegetables.
On this day, there was a large winter melon inside.

The dessert is dragon fruit jelly.
This is also handmade by the owner of the shop.

The color is amazing, and even though it's a jelly, it's not too sweet and has a refreshing taste.
◆How much does the “Amachan Set Meal” cost?
The Amachan set meal costs 2,000 yen.
Some people may think it's a little pricey, but this is the only place on Tokunoshima that you can eat it, and best of all, the view is amazing.

Be sure to stop by "Togura" where you can enjoy local Tokunoshima foods while taking in this view.
